Student Conference Scholarships

  • Procedure

    REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENT ELIGIBILITY FOR CONFERENCE SCHOLARSHIPS:

    1. Applicant must be a registered student member of WPRA (for the current year that the conference is being held). WPRA Membership is free for students. Register on WPRA Website: https://www.wpraweb.org/membership

    2. Applicant must be currently enrolled in a park, recreation, natural resource, therapeutic recreation or related curriculum and must carry a minimum of 6 credits at the time of application.

    3. Applicant must provide name and contact information of Student Advisor/Faculty member to verify current student status and eligibility.

    4. Scholarship recipients may be asked to volunteer at the Conference assisting with the Foundation Raffle Fundraiser.

    ONCE STUDENT IS NOTIFIED BY WPRA FOUNDATION OF SCHOLARSHIP APPROVAL:

    1. Once approved, the student will be directed to register for the WPRA Conference on the WPRA website: https://www.wpraweb.org/annual-conference. Make sure to be logged into your WPRA account. Select the 3-Day Student Membership option. Once your registration form is complete, be sure to select the 'invoice me" option before submitting.

    2. Student 3-Day Scholarships include Wednesday lunch and Thursday dinner but must be ordered on the registration form. No other meals are provided and if you do not mark the meal then a ticket is not provided.

    3. After submitting your Conference Registration, you should receive an invoice via email from the WPRA Office. Please forward your invoice via email to the WPRA Foundation at info@wprafoundation.org

    4. Once your invoice is received by WPRA Foundation, your registration fee will be paid to the WPRA Office.

    5. Approved Student Scholarship Recipients are eligible to apply for Lodging Reimbursement up to $50 per person after attending the Conference (see details below).

    *Earlier submissions are encouraged to improve chances of receiving a scholarship and funds being available

    This is a scholarship for student members of WPRA to attend the annual WPRA Conference. Please review the procedure to submit your application.

  • Student Lodging Reimbursement

    STUDENT REQUEST FOR LODGING REIMBURSEMENT FOR APPROVED SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

    ● The max reimbursement is $50 per student (not per night). If sharing a room, each student may pay and request their own reimbursement, or one person may pay and request on behalf of the group who stayed together in one room. https://www.wprafoundation.org/submit-student-lodging-reimbursement

    ● Alternate lodging other than designated conference hotel is allowable if it is within reasonable mileage as determined by the WPRA Foundation Board.

    ● A receipt confirming stay and payment of lodging is required to be submitted along with the reimbursement form to nfo@wprafoundation.org

    ● All reimbursements will be made after the Conference, within 4 weeks after submission.
